    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Accurately count loads for import and export operations and collect driver’s tickets
    • Proper site awareness (incl. when working around heavy equipment)
    • Respect for public to include proper signaling and traffic awareness
    • Using a folding ruler to convert tenths to inches
    • Knockdown and grade planters independently

    Training:
    • Completion of 10 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training.
    • Import and Export Operations: Subtotals throughout day (Update Foreman), average trip times, missing trucks, and collecting trucking tickets, etc. LABORERS DON’T SIGN TICKETS
    • Basic job site duties such as sweeping, shoveling, keeping work areas free from trip hazards, and other basic activities
    • Proactive attitude, staying busy, and being productive.

    Note: Additional training may be required depending on business needs.

    Expected hours to complete: 1500 Hours

  • Prerequisites:
    • Successful completion of Laborer 1
    • Strong verbal communication:

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skill:
    • Safely labor alongside the following machines:
        ° Skip Loader/Skidsteer or Equal
        ° Blade/Motor grader
        ° Backhoe/Excavator/Mini Excavator or Equal
    • Shoveling edges, cleaning off curbs and pavement edges.
    • Maintaining clearing off hubs, feathers and maintaining staking.
    • Knowledge of Measuring Ruler and ability to communicate cuts / fills in tenths / feet.
    • Able to run hubs and check them.

    Training:
    • Completion of 6 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training. • Basic understanding of grading and excavation principles for setting hubs and stakes

  • Prerequisites:
    • Successful completion of Laborer 1 and 2

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    Finish Work
        ° Labor for Finish Grade alongside Skip Loader & Blade by shoveling edges, checking grade, saving/replacing hubs & feathers, and maintaining a finished product.
        ° Labor for Finish Grade alongside Backhoe &/or Excavator, Skip Loader & Dozer to complete finished product for compaction or final rolling.
    • Setting elevations with string line, swedes, and laser.
    • Ability to safely and properly run the following equipment:
        ° H2O Water Truck
        ° Roller
        ° Skidsteer (Picking up trash, moving dirt, misc. site cleanup)
        ° Skip loader (Material handling, basic cleanup, moving dirt piles, etc.)

    Leadership:
    • Set a good example for work ethic to other employees
    • Keep foreman informed with job site needs and changes

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Safely operate a 2k & 4k water truck for rough grade and mass excavation operations.
    • Operate various material handling equipment such as rigid frame and articulated dump trucks.
    • Operate 2k and 4k water trucks, water pulls, or other water placing equipment for cut & fill operations.
    • Safe operation of equipment while meeting production goals.
    • Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance such as fueling and greasing, fluid checks, PTO greasing, air lines and valve cans, etc.
    • Water truck operations for dust control.
    • Maintain fill hoses and prevent drive-away damage from hydrants and fill stands.
    • Ability to safely operate rigid frame or articulated dump trucks for mining operations.
    • Proper use of hand hose for dust control, fill operations, and loading of trucks.
    • Proper spotting under the water tower for truck fills without overspilling.
    • Knowledge of backflow devices, installation and use.
    • Knowledge and use of PTO and its greasing/maintenance.

    Training:
    • Completion of 4 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training.

    • Water Pull Operation for Rough Grade Operations

    Training:
    • Completion of 3 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training.

    Expected hours to complete: 1500 Hours

  • Prerequisite:
    • Successful completion of Laborer 3
    • Shows up on time and communicates effectively regarding schedule.
    • Owning recommended full set of keys
    • Outfitted in proper job site attire including safety vest, gloves, operator helmet, safety glasses & boots.
    • Effective time management skills to ensure the most important work is being completed promptly, with the ability to prioritize work assignments.
    • Ability to work independently, taking initiative to move the project forward.

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Must complete daily operator inspections without missing days (Cat Inspect or similar).
    • Apply grease to equipment per manufacturer specifications.
    • Must be able to safely operate a Skid Steer, Skip Loader, Loader, Excavator or Mini Ex: to move and relocate dirt piles, smooth haul roads, construct construction entrances, conduct wall and planter backfill operations without damaging surrounding structures and utilities, and other basic duties as assigned.
    • Must possess a basic understanding of proper safety measures for working around slopes, vertical edges, and mass excavations.
    • Must be able to read and understand grading stakes at a basic level.
    • Demonstrate the ability to understand plans, GPS file readouts, and other related information at a basic level.

    Training:
    • Completion of 5 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training.

  • Prerequisite:
    • Successful completion of Operator 1

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Must be able to operate at least (3) pieces of equipment utilizing grading stakes and carry rough grade:
        ° Skip Loader – +/- 0.2’
        ° Skid Steer – +/- 0.2’
        ° Motor Grader – +/- 0.2’
        ° Track Dozer – +/- 0.5’
        ° Rubber Dozer – +/- 0.5’
        ° Loader – +/- 0.5’
        ° Scraper – +/- 0.5’
        ° Excavator or Mini Ex. – +/- 0.5’ for excavator / +/- 0.2’ for mini
    • Must be able to maintain grade according to the plan with minimal re-work.
    • Must be able to operate independently to load dump trucks, haul trucks, trash/recycling bins, etc. without spilling material or damaging surrounding equipment or structures.
    • Must be able to operate with a variety of attachments such as breakers, thumbs, crypto claws, compaction wheels, rock buckets, or other similar attachments.
    • Must be able to read and understand grading stakes at an intermediate level.
    • Must be able to understand plans, blueprints, GPS file readouts, and other related information at an intermediate level.
    • Proper greasing and maintenance of breakers and attachments.

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Must be able to operate three or more (3+) pieces of equipment and master at least one (1) utilizing grading stakes and carry grade in a productive and proficient manner within industry standards to the following tolerances:

    • Operate machines on GPS automatic controls.

    • Must be able to utilize plans, blueprints, GPS file readouts, and other related information at a basic level.
    • Read & understand survey staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS at a basic level.

    Leadership:
    • Provide basic level rough grade directions to heavy equipment operators, to include setting stakes and hiking up ribbons.
    • Collect Job Tickets

    Training:
    • Completion of 2 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training.

    • Ability to old school layout without GPS.
    • Ability to rag up stakes with ribbon colors.
    • Ability to use Peep Sight / Hand-Eye Level.
    • Ability to use Swedes.
    • Ability to measure with Banjo.
    • Set curb grade, sidewalk grade, and paving grade for heavy equipment operators.
    • Operate the following equipment at Operator 2 level for a skidsteer and skip loader.
    • Have an intermediate-level ability to set up a laser, benching in on site survey, plan grade verifications.
    • Read & Understand Survey Staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS. Calculate Cuts/Fills.

    Leadership:
    • Great documentation skills documenting as-built, work completed, and other daily reporting requirements.
    • Creative problem-solving capabilities, able to see problems with the project before they interfere with the project schedule.
    • Communicate with foreman on a regular basis for job site needs.

    Training:
    • Completion of 2 required certification will be achieved through online paid training. • Localize the site for GPS – Foreman / GPS Technician

    • Read & understand survey staking Gen. TC, PL, CF, FG, and FS at an expert level.

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Expert GPS Set up Including Job Set up, Site Calibration, and Topo to include different work orders.
    • Science of Soil and Compaction.
    • Daily check in Calibrations and creating new work orders.
    • Calculate Cuts/Fills.
    • Ability to read and understand soils report and requirements.
    • Ability to Read RG Staking.
    • Determine offsets.
    • Measure cut/fill from hub or stake.
    • Ribbon up with correct colors.
    • Must be able to independently layout site for OX and Mass Ex.
    • Expert working knowledge of GPS use as it relates to Files, Buttons, Topo’s, Machine Control Files, Export Files, and running calculations.

    Leadership:
    • Be trusted to be the Foreman’s right hand, manage the job in absence of the Foreman for 1-2 days alone.
    • Able to give task delegations and confirm completion of tasks to required plans and documents/soils report.
    • Excellent documentation skills: via pictures, and written notes of day’s events.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with the Superintendent, soils engineers, city, and various inspectors.
    • Willing and able to train lower-tiered grade checkers.

    Training:
    • Attending various site, coordination, and planning meetings for projects with Foreman.
    • Learning equipment’s production, fuel burn, and capabilities.

  • Prerequisites:
    • Successful completion of Grade Checker 1, 2, and 3

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:
    Skills:
    • Good understanding of how to productively and proficiently execute required work items on the project in order to meet the budget.
    • Scheduling your jobsite Crews and Equipment with Dispatch and Project Manager.

    Leadership:
    • Proactively promoting safety and following ELITE safety policies.
    • Attend and participate in Foreman Meetings.
    • Complete all required Job Tracking Documentation timely (Dailies, Safety Forms, Timecards, and Incident Reports).

    • Good documentation skills as it pertains to T&M Change Orders.
    • Jobsite closeout and documentation for compaction, line and grade, topography, PM Signoff, and coordinate drone flights.

    Leadership:
    • Able to profitably manage (1) job with little to no assistance on a foreman level.
    • Proper scheduling and coordination of the Two Week Look Ahead with Project Manager.

    Training:
    • Completion of 2 required certifications will be achieved through online paid training. • Understanding the difference between Rough and Fine Grading from a production mindset – Superintendent

    • Successful completion of Foreman 1 and 2

    In order to graduate to the next grade, the employee must learn and become proficient in the following:

    • Able to manage and run (2) jobs solo with little to no assistance from Project Manager/Field Superintendent.
    • Willing and able to teach Earthwork Knowledge and skill as it relates to Laborers, Grade checkers, Teamsters, and Operators.
